About Cory McGee
From asphalt
to oceans.
A life driven by purpose: coach, mentor, entrepreneur and former professional basketball player.

I'm Cory McGee: a coach, mentor, entrepreneur and former professional basketball player. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, and now based in the Cayman Islands, I've built a life around turning opportunity into something others can share.
Basketball carried me across 17 countries during a 23-year professional career. Along the way, I experienced different cultures, built lasting relationships, and learned lessons that reach far beyond the court.
Sacrifice, setbacks, discipline and perseverance shaped the player I became, and the man I am today.
Education & coaching
The game opened the door.
Purpose gave me direction.
My journey took me from studying Mass Communication, with a focus on television and radio, at Savannah State University to playing professionally around the world. Today, I bring that experience to my work as National Team Head Coach of the Cayman Islands Senior Women's and Girls' 17U basketball teams.
Coaching means more to me than preparing athletes for competition. It means helping young people develop confidence, take ownership of their choices, and recognize possibilities they may never have imagined.

National Team Head Coach
Developing talent.
Building belief.
Representing Cayman.
Serving as Head Coach of the Cayman Islands Senior Women's and Girls' 17U basketball teams is both an honour and a responsibility. Every time we step onto the court, we represent our islands, our communities, and the young athletes who dream of one day wearing the national jersey.
Drawing on my 23-year professional playing career across 17 countries, I prepare players for the demands of international basketball through fundamentals, tactical understanding, physical preparation, and mental discipline. My approach asks every athlete to communicate, remain accountable, and put the team first.
I'm especially committed to creating opportunities for women and girls in basketball. That means helping players strengthen their game, develop leadership skills, and prepare for pathways into education and higher levels of competition.
For me, success includes the scoreboard, and extends to the confidence, character, and ambition our athletes carry into everyday life. My goal is to build a program that gives Cayman reason to be proud and gives the next generation something to believe in.
One team. One purpose. Cayman pride.

N' Between Dreams · Non-profit
Changing the world,
one dribble at a time.
In 2005, I founded N' Between Dreams, my non-profit organization, to connect young people with opportunity through basketball, education, life skills and mentorship.
Through initiatives such as the Breakfast Club, I've helped student-athletes prepare for opportunities to study and play overseas. Early mornings on the court become lessons in commitment. Encouragement becomes confidence. A young person's dream becomes a goal they can work toward.
My community work has also included rehabilitation programs in men's and women's prisons. I believe people deserve encouragement, guidance, and the chance to build a different future.

Creating opportunity
beyond the court.
Through LEAP Diversify Cayman Ltd, I bring together life skills, education, adventure, sports and entertainment to create experiences that connect and inspire people.
My background in media, international sport and events continues to shape my work. Whether I'm developing a youth program, bringing people together through an event, or sharing my story, the purpose is consistent: open doors and create something that lasts.

The legacy is still being written
Asphalt to Oceans is the story of the journey: the ambition, adversity, sacrifices and people who have shaped my life.
But my legacy lives in more than my own story. It lives in the young person who finds their confidence, the athlete who earns an opportunity, and the person who decides their circumstances will not define their future.
Dream with your eyes open. Then put in the work to bring that dream to life.
